Break the Lid off Your Limits

A couple of years ago I was inspired to write a book which I titled Get Motivated in 30 Seconds or Less. I loved it. I enjoyed the experience of writing it. I believed it would touch lives. And it has.

Then I wanted to publish. But there was one problem.

I didn’t have the money. I dilly dallied around with the idea of publishing. But my pockets weren’t supportive enough.

I procrastinated. I gave all the reasons you can think of as to why I couldn’t make it. After all I was still in my mid twenties and therefore no one would blame me if I didn’t publish at such a tender age.

I didn’t have a steady and impressive income. I was self employed. Still I am. Therefore there were very dry months and lean weeks.

But I finally got tired of excuses and felt something had to give way. Either my dreams or my excuses. I sacrificed the latter and decided to live my dream. I chose the option of self publishing because I felt it was quicker and had more control rather than going through the hoops of a traditional publishing.

The moment I decided, magical things started happening.

First a presumably cheap publisher appeared. But, the final work wasn’t impressive. Papers were jumping out. I had to abandon the project. I immediately pulled the books off the market because I didn’t want to be associated with a mediocre product.

What’s interesting is that Joyce Rubakuba who had worked on my original manuscript had recommended another publisher whom she believed is “the best but expensive”.

I went for a cheaper one but then like I had hinted in my last post “Are You Cheap? Could Be Expensive Option because…”, I lost money on my first choice of a cheap publisher and came in circles back to the so called ‘expensive one’. In the end, the work has been really good and my readers have been impressed with the quality of the printing. In the long run, it was a cheaper option.

That’s beside the point. My take away from this experience is to be decisive. To operate beyond the visible limits and tap into the invisible but infinite powers available to all of us. Yes, I mean you too.

Whatever your dream is, follow it with decisiveness, belief and provision will appear.

May you experience more love, joy, peace and abundance.
